The Dance program at Berkshire offers an eclectic variety of styles, including Modern, contemporary West African, Popping and Locking, Ballet and Jazz. Students spend their afternoons in vigorous training for these techniques concurrently taking part in the creative process of learning choreography for performance. The performance aspect of the program highlights these different dance styles through a variety of concerts.
Students may also take Choreography which offers the more serious dance student an opportunity to make their own work and have it performed for the Berkshire community and possibly beyond. The program strives for the growth of each individual dancer to be the best they can be, while recognizing that dance is a communal activity. The program also challenges students' perceptions of what they are capable of while exploring dance as a powerful tool for expression, creativity and discussion.
