After earning their first win of 2012 the night before, the Bears arrived at Cushing Academy with a renewed excitement. The Berkshire - Cushing rivalry has been around for a while and having beaten Cushing earlier in the year, the Bears knew that this game was going to be a battle.
Berkshire and Cushing took the ice with a lot of energy. Both teams were flying and the game was physical. Berkshire opened the scoring just four minutes into the game when Casey Lyons '12 found the back of the net. Annika Zalewski '14 and Ronnie Lortie '14 had assists on the goal. Three minutes later Cushing evened up the score, but with just three minutes remaining in the first, Lyonswould again put the Bears ahead and the Bears played out the period to enter the locker room up by one. Assists on the second Berkshire goal went to Zalewski and Claire Virkler '14.
Zalewski scored the only goal of the second with assists to Kelsey Taylor '12 and Katherine Sweeney '12. Chelsea Preston '12turned away all of Cushing opportunities and Berkshire ended the period up by two. The third period saw a lot of back and forth action. Berkshire found themselves in the box a bunch and Cushing would capitalize early in the period on a power play. The Bears dug in, determined to win the game, and played some excellent defense. Preston continued to shut the door on Cushing's offense and Berkshire put on some pressure of their own. The team rallied around one another to take the game 3 - 2.
