Result:Win
Score:2 - 1
Event Recap:
Folks that were on hand this evening at the JACK were treated to a great New England prep school hockey game. Both teams should be commended for their hard work on the ice. It was a tight defensive game and both goalies made some big stops when called upon. In the end Berkshire was able to hang on to a 2-1 lead for the win.

The game started out as a tight checking affair with both squads playing disciplined hockey. Scoring chances were few and far between. The first 18 minutes would end in a scoreless tie.

In the second period Berkshire was able to generate more offensive zone pressure and shots on goal. They would out shoot Choate 22-5 in the period. For all that work though the Bears were able to manage only one goal. Quin Pompi '13 broke the tie while on a 5-on-3 power play. The puck moved high to low from Bryan Gerstenfeld '14 to Greg Smart '12 and back to Pompi who fired a long snap shot that eluded the Choate goalie. The second period would end with the Bears clinging to the 1-0 lead.

In the third period the Wild Boars from Choate turned up their intensity and created some offensive opportunities of their own. Berkshire goalie Patrick Feeley '12 made some huge stops to maintain the Bears' lead. Berkshire would extend the margin when defenseman Corey Wisnowski '12 fired a slap shot past the Choate goalie with just over ten minutes to play. As the game went into its final five minutes the Bears were called for a penalty and Choate was able to convert after Feeley made a great first save on a one timer but a Choate attacker was able to bang in he rebound. With just under four minutes remaining the Bears hung onto a 2-1 lead. Berkshire went back to work and cycled the puck down low and limited the Choate time of possession, but got called for a penalty with just over 2 minutes to play. At this point the game went into desperation mode for both sides as every loose puck and blocked shot had the potential to be the difference in the game. Choate pulled their goalie to get the extra attacker 6-on-4. Craig Puffer '14 had a big blocked shot down the stretch and the Berkshire defenders tightened up in their defensive zone. They were able to kill the penalty and hang on for a hard fought 2-1 victory.

It was a hard fought game on both sides. Berkshire played a solid all around game to earn the win. They face Avon on Saturday at home at 2:30PM.
