Event Recap: After a storm delay, the Bears took the field against Loomis in what turned out to be a tough, but well-fought battle for Berkshire. Loomis started the game out on a high note, scoring two quick goals in the first minute of play. The Bears realized quickly how strong their opponents were, and started to slow the play down a little more. Sassy Cosman-Connery '14 was able to get a few shots on goal in the first half, but the Loomis goalie was able to stop her each time. Isabel Martin Hinojosa '14 and Lan Nguyen '13, who are both brand new to the sport of lacrosse, were able to keep up in the play and do an excellent job out there on the field. A string of Loomis goals came, but the Bears were able to get on the scoreboard in the first half when Lexi Merison '15, made great driving play toward the cage! Merison continued to have a great came in the second half.
Although the Bears were down by 9 goals heading into the second half, their attitude was to take the next 25 minutes as a whole new game. That they did. In the first seven minutes of the second half, three different players scored goals - Hannah Honan '15 off of a great passing play, Christina Cohen '13 from a great isolation, and Cosman-Connery from an excellent heads up pass by Eloise Morrow '14. Cosman-Connery scored one more in the final minutes, but it was not enough for the win. While the final score was 16 to 5 for Loomis, the Bears should be proud of their effort, especially in the second half.
