Event Recap:
In the final game of the season, the girls were fired up in hopes to get one more win for a .500 record. It was a chilly, but sunny afternoon at Millbrook School - great conditions for soccer. The first ten minutes went by scoreless, but a number of opportunities brought the Bears close. The shots came, but no goals...that is, until Melody Barros '15, in the far back position of sweeper, made a lovely pass up to Hong Minh Ngo '13, who danced around the Mustang defense and took a low shot to the far corner, perfectly placed for the first goal of the game! Less than five minutes later, Ngo made another great creative play to create more space and time for herself. She strung a great through pass to Allie McErlean '14 on the left wing, who made some great moves and connected the ball with the back netting! The chances continued for Berkshire, thanks to some great hustle in the defense and midfielders. With five minutes remaining in the half, Lilly Weil '13 at left middie lofted a great shot for the Bear's third goal of the game!
After a solid first half, the energy and pizzazz stayed strong for the Bears, allowing them to get their fourth and final goal of the game five minutes in. This time, it was Charlotte Weil '13 on the opposite side of the field who fire a great shot that swept past the Millbrook keeper. Although the Bears did not score any more goals in the game, the battled with 100% effort until the final whistle of the game. Showing great determination and tenacity were senior captains Kelley Hartmann '12 and Kira Puth '12. They were so hungry for the win, and left everything out on the field in their final soccer game at Berkshire. The Bears played an excellent team game, putting 30 shots on goal. Lauren Henman '14 in goal had another excellent game. The final score was 4 to 1 for the Bears - a great win to even out the team record at 6-6 on the season.
