Academic Resources

In the last three years, Berkshire has enjoyed a flurry of construction that has resulted in significant improvements to the physical assets that support Academics.  In 2008 the School completed a full gut renovation of the central academic building, Berkshire Hall, bringing state-of-the-art technology to bright, open and engaging spaces for learning and meeting.  Ceramic and Studio Arts rooms were fully renovated that same year.  In 2009, the arts department saw further improvements with the renovation of the Photography and Digital Arts studios, as well as a new Film Studio, Dance Studio and Music Center in 2010.  In 2011, the the first and second floors of Allen were renovated, including the theater, film lab, radio station and Kenefick Center for Learning.

Berkshire continues to add new spaces that will further augment the School’s ability to support and challenge its students.  In September 2012, the school opened the new Bellas/Dixon Math and Science Center, increasing space by 129% and greatly augmenting curricular opportunities.  A new eight-acre solar field on the east side of campus is now generating up to forty percent of the school’s electricity and serves as a lab for the Sustainability program.  In the summer of 2013, the school will open a new state-of-the-art Fine Arts Center for Berkshire’s extensive visual arts program, including: expansive new Studio Art and Ceramics classrooms; a new classroom for Digital Art, Digital Photography and Digital Music; a digital printing lab; a Sculpture Studio; a large new Art Gallery; and offices, storage and other support facilities.

We are obviously proud of all of these building projects. They represent a genuine commitment to our students and faculty, and they are the result of an inspired leadership effort at many levels.  That being said, Berkshire has always been and will always be about the people.  It is the human relationships that make Berkshire special.
