Chinese V

The goal of Chinese V is to prepare students for advanced Chinese study in college and to strive for a fuller development of communicative skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing Mandarin Chinese. Students in Chinese V will read more sophisticated materials such as newspapers, magazines, and Internet news to better understand Chinese culture and society. There will be an increased focus on writing, including development of extended sentence structures and full paragraphs discussing their readings. Students will continue to build their vocabulary using more formal expressions as they learn new characters. Students will learn grammar in context by using it in a meaningful way through oral and written practice.
